Frequently Asked Questions

What is an eBook and why is Kereru only offering eBooks?

An eBook is just the same as a printed paper book - but without the paper!  As technology keeps advancing, eBooks are becoming better and better as well as more and more popular.  You can buy a dedicated eBook reader or use your phone, computer or tablet to read eBooks.  At Kereru Publishing we have chosen to offer our books in electronic format only.  This means the logistics and costs of publishing and distributing our books are made simpler, faster and cheaper.  Our resources are now accessible, available and inexpensive to people from all over the world.  We do offer our electronic books (eBooks) in a variety of formats. From our own website you can purchase all of our ebooks in pdf format.  Most of our books are also available in ePub format and we are just starting to offer mobi format.

What is a pdf eBook?

A pdf is a document that has been converted to look just like it would if it was printed.  The pdf file will look on your screen exactly as it did on the screen of the person who created it.  Some of our Kereru eBooks and most of our additional resources available from our website and in our Kereru Club Members area are in pdf format.   You can view pdf files from your electronic devices including computers, phones and readers without downloading any special software. If you are having problems viewing a pdf you may need to download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.  http://get.adobe.com/reader/ We have chosen to offer our files in pdf format from our website, primarily because of download size.  If you don't want to buy a pdf you can buy an epub from our site or if you want to buy in another format these are available from other retailers.  At the bottom of each ebook page on our website you will find buttons to click for you to buy from other retailers.

What is an epub eBook?

An epub is a standard eBook format and unlike the pdf, it is flowable.  This makes an epub file look great on whichever device you want to read it from; your smartphone, tablet, computer or dedicated eBook reader.  At Kereru Publishing we  offer epub files available direct from our own website.  You don't need a dedicated eBook reader to read an ePub file.  You can get free software for your computer or smartphone or tablet. There are plenty of choices but we've found EPUB File Reader http://www.epubfilereader.com/ works well on a computer and Infinity Reader from Google Play Store is great for smartphones and tablets.

What is an epub fixed layout eBook?

We do have a few titles by Joy Cowley formatted as fixed layout ePubs.  These can still be opened and read with ePub readers designed for flowable text but they may not function as well as if they are used on software and devices which support the EPUB3 format. Infinity Reader will handle ePUB3. If you have any problems please contact us and we can guide you in choice of software.  We will gradually be providing these titles in alternate formats to reach a wider audience.

What is a Mobi eBook?

A mobi is the file format used by Kindle, Amazon's eBook reader. Just like the ePub, it is flowable and can be read from your mobile phone, tablet, computer or dedicated eBook reader.  At Kereru Publishing we are now able to offer mobi files available direct from our own website which you can load onto your Kindle.  However, you don't need a Kindle device to read a mobi file.  Amazon offers a free Kindle reader app for you to download to your phone, tablet or computer.  If you are wanting to read a Mobi format book from your computer or mobile phone you can download the reader from the Amazon websites.

Where can I buy Kereru eBooks?

You can buy all Kereru eBooks from this site.  Most of our books are available in both pdf and epub formats, and we are also starting to format in Mobi format.  We'd love you to support us by buying through our website as this means the authors receive higher royalties, however, if you have a favourite supplier, we are distributing through a range of retailers.  At the bottom of each book page there are links to take you to our retailers or you can click on these links to search for a Kereru book:

Kereru eBooks are available from our website and from a variety of retailers in an ePub format. An ePub file can be read on computers, notebooks, mobile devices like iPad, tablets, Android and Windows phones, as well as most dedicated eReaders (e.g. Sony, Kobo, Nook).  You don't need a dedicated eBook reader to read an ePub file.  If you are wanting to read an ePub book from your computer you can download Adobe® Digital Editions (ADE).  http://www.adobe.com/nz/products/digital-editions/download.html This is a free download from Adobe that allows you to view and manage your purchased eBooks on your computer. ADE is also used to transfer eBooks from your computer to other dedicated eReading devices. Once you have ADE installed on your PC/Mac, you can download your eBook into ADE and read while disconnected from the internet.  If you are wanting to read your ePub on a smartphone or tablet there are several free apps that you can download. We currently recommend Infinity Reader from Google Play.

Sorry, due to the nature of the product, we can not accept returns on an eBook.  Please choose your eBook carefully.  We have included sample pages of eBooks so that you can see what you are buying and where there are reviews, read these to be sure you’re happy to purchase the eBook.  However, if you are having technical problems please let us know and we will do what we can to help you, and if we can't solve your problem we will refund the book.

Will my eBook always be available from this website?

We have no storage facility for you to store your eBook on our website.  When you download the eBook store it into your personal eBook library where you can also control reading it on your own personal multiple devices.  However, if you accidentally delete your book, we do have a record of all transactions so please contact us and we will send you another copy.

Can I buy a copy of an eBook for a friend?

Of course you can, but we don't have an automatic option to send it as a gift. Send us an email and we can arrange to send them a copy.

Can I buy multiple copies of the same book for my Book Club, Church, Small Group?

You definitely can buy multiple copies.  Our website will now let you buy multiple copies which you can distribute but if you are purchasing for a larger group contact us by email and we will give you access to multiple copies at a discounted rate.

Can I buy more than one title at a time?

Our website lets you add multiple items into your shopping cart.

Can I print out my pdf copy of the book I purchased?

The whole point of an eBook is that you read it on your screen.  Legally you can't print it out - that would be breaking copyright, however, if you really must read it on paper we understand that you might want to print out a single copy for personal use.  Do not photocopy, scan, loan or distribute your copy - this is stealing.  We try to keep our prices low so that people can buy their own copy.

What is the Kereru Club?

The Kereru Club is a way we can pass on additional benefits to members who are really interested in what we are doing on a regular basis.  We have additional resources and these will continue to be added to as we grow.  Whether for personal use or in a Church or large group setting, the Kereru Club has many things on offer.  Membership is free. Sign up after you've made a transaction.

Can I send a manuscript to Kereru Publishing?

If you write your own worship resources and have something fresh or new that you think others might be interested in you are welcome to send us an email with your idea. Your email should be in the form of a proposal rather than a whole manuscript. Include a brief summary of your suggested content, a sample of the type of resource you have written, where you've used your resource and confirmation that these are original to you and not a revision of someone else's work.  We will respond to your email, but please be patient if we take a few weeks to get back to you.

How can I subscribe to Taking Flight?

We have several Taking Flight subscription offers available to purchase from the website. If you're having difficulty navigating the website, contact us by email and we can always send you an email.

Is Andrew Gamman the same person who writes 10 Minutes on Tuesday?

Yes, Andrew wrote "10 Minutes on Tuesday" from 2010 - 2014 as a worship resource for the Methodist Church of New Zealand. The funding for that resource has now run out and Andrew is now contemplating putting together a weekly worship resource through Kereru Publishing for a small charge. It would be different to "10 Minutes on Tuesday", and not part of his work with the Methodist Church.  We are thinking of a stripped down version, but would include creative worship ideas.  If you would be interested in receiving this resource send him an email through this website.
